Brown-bellied Antwren (Epinecrophylla gutturalis)

Bruinbuik Miersluiper: Het vrouwtje heeft geen gespikkelde keel zoals het mannetje en is moeilijk te onderscheiden van de vrouwtjes van sommige andere soorten miervogels. Je houdt ze het beste uit elkaar als je de geluiden kent. Volgens S. Hilty (birds of Venezuela) hangen bruinbuik miersluipers vaak aan dode bladeren. Ze zijn heel gewoon in de ondergroei in het regenwoud. Otte Ottema nam het geluid op in de buurt van Arapahu in Suriname.
De foto van een vrouwtje bruinbuikmiersluiper is gemaakt door Brian O'Shea in het natuurreservaat Ralleigh Vallen in Suriname in 2002. Dan een foto van een mannetje bruinbuik miersluiper, gemaakt door Serano Ramcharan in het Coesewijne natuurreservaat in augustus 2009.

Verspreiding

Elk klein vierkant stelt minstens één waargenomen vogel voor of een groep, grotere vierkanten minstens vier verschillende dagen met waarnemingen en de grootste vierkanten minstens tien. De kleur geeft aan: blauw voor de kustvlakte, geel voor savanne en rood voor het oerwoud.
Niet alle plaatsen in Suriname worden even goed bezocht door vogelaars, dus de verdeling van de vierkanten geeft een indicatie van de plaats van de vogels, maar ook van de vogelaars. Op sommige plaatsen in het zuiden zijn geen observaties van vogels, door ervaren vogelaars, binnen een straal van 60 kilometer.

The 218 reported observations of this bird in Suriname, mainly for the last 50 years up to 2018, have been grouped by month. More birds on one day are counted as one observation. Of course, if the graph should depict the total number of birds seen, the differences between the months could be much more pronounced.	The 2 reported breeding observations of this bird in Suriname. Most observations are about nest with eggs, some about fledglings, or feeding at a nest or the building of a nest. Of the about 5000 nests and eggs found for all species together, about 1/3 comes from the egg collection of Penard between 1896 and 1905. For some reason most collecting then was done in the first half of each year, so the shown distribution does not necessarily reflect the actual breeding preferences. The main dry season in Suriname is reckoned to be from half August to the end of November, the main wet season from half April to half August, but the the timing of begin and end does vary from year to year. Around March a second dry season often occurs.
